Our mission this year has been to educate as many people as possible about AI. While working in various schools, I’ve also had the privilege of leading fundraising efforts for local charities in Hong Kong and international causes. After stepping back from this work during COVID, I’m thrilled to revive it through the Pathwise Giveback Program.

Our Latest Initiative – Siargao Island, Philippines

Last week, Jay Sajo and I traveled to Siargao Island, Philippines—a breathtaking place with a resilient community. Unfortunately, much of its infrastructure was devastated by Typhoon Rai in 2021, leaving buildings, roads, and vehicles in ruins. We wanted to help.

During our visit, we aimed to support local schools by building a library. That’s when we met Stephanie Gana, the founder of Siargao Masaya, an NGO dedicated to children’s education. We also connected with Baybayin Library, a community learning hub established in 2022. Inspired by their work, we are excited to launch a new initiative supporting both organizations.

The Game Plan

Phase 1 – Library Support (Completion: March 2025)

We will provide books and computers to support Baybayin Library and Siargao Masaya Library, which operate closely together. Currently, the library has only six computers—we aim to add at least ten more to enhance digital learning opportunities.

Phase 2 – Mobile Library (Completion: May 2025)

In 2021, a falling coconut tree destroyed the island’s mobile library, forcing it to be scrapped. We will launch a GoFundMe campaign to fund a new mobile library, which will also serve as a computer lab. Equipped with Starlink internet, this mobile hub will provide online learning access across Siargao Island. Pathwise Academy will provide free online AI courses to support this initiative.

Phase 3 – Student Volunteering & Educational Sponsorship (Ongoing from October 2025)

We will invite international school students from Singapore and Hong Kong to visit Siargao and participate in:

Reading programs for local children
Computer literacy lessons at Baybayin Library
Hands-on community engagement projects

In addition, we will offer sponsorships to help the poorest families on Siargao Island. These funds will provide:

School tuition assistance for children
Educational materials, such as books and school supplies
Support for transportation and school-related expenses
